Legal Settlement Reached with ADTRAN
Mar 25, 2024
Fort Lauderdale, FL — March 25, 2024 — We are pleased to announce that USDN has successfully reached a legal settlement with ADTRAN, a leading provider of end-to-end fiber networking solutions for communication service providers, regarding a trademark dispute over our featured product, AD-WAN.
The Dispute
The issue arose when ADTRAN filed a complaint with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), claiming that the name "AD-WAN" infringed upon their company's name and services. After several months of negotiations and constructive discussions between our intellectual property attorneys, a resolution has been achieved.
The Resolution
Under the terms of the settlement, USDN will continue to use the name "AD-WAN" exclusively for our software product. However, the name will not be used in relation to any hardware or equipment branding. This agreement allows us to retain the rights to the AD-WAN name without any further legal concerns, preventing a potential rebranding that would have significantly delayed our deployments.
Moving Forward
While this legal matter did cause a temporary setback for USDN, the outcome is a positive one. Without this settlement, we would have faced the difficult task of renaming our Autonomous Distributed Wide Area Network (AD-WAN) product, which could have delayed our rollout for over a year. With this legal chapter now behind us, we are more energized than ever to move forward with our plans and continue revolutionizing the future of data transport.
USDN extends its gratitude to Concept Law Group for their legal guidance throughout this process and their commitment to protecting USDN's pioneering cutting-edge solutions.
